We earlier reported that NASU protests in EKSU, locks up school gates today.
CloudGossips spoke with one of the NASU members who wants to remain anonymous. He said that the Union didn't just embark on protest. he said they have been having some dialogs with the VC and the school management but the school management has been posting them. He said the protest is to benefit the students too as the presummed increase in school fees for net section would affect both students and some members of the Union. That, according to him, is because some of them have children in the school.
However, effort made to speak with the VC proved abortive as the VC is said to have gone to meet the State Governor over the same matter.
While speaking with the students, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof Adanlawo aka No Baga advised the students to remain calm as things would soon be settled out.
The Student Union President, Oladimeji Ibrahim Bayo (Prodigy), said the protest is not welcomed as the students are already prepared for the examinmation which was supposed to kick-start today.
He further stated that he called the ASUU Chairman during the protest and the ASUU chairman said he had sent message to his members not to come to school today. Therefore, the exam for today has been cancelled.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa was also at the scene. While addressing the SUG, he advised the students to be calm. He said the VC had gone to see the Governor over the matter. As regarding the supposed examination, he said the exam will not be holding today again but he assured the students that the matter would be resolve and the exam would be reschedule to start tomorrow.
Meanwhile, one of the students spoke with CloudGossips and lamented that when he was in 100 Level, it took God's intervention to write the exam then and now that he is in his final year (400 Level), the same thing is happening.
Another student pleaded with the School Management to start the exam as they have already burnt so many candles and can't wait to pour down what they have memorised.
The school campus is however seem to be normal as other activities are not affected. Only students and pedestrian are allowed to enter through the main gate.
Students are advised to continue with their reading as the exam is most likely to start tomorrow.
