Fayemi, not Fayose, bars from holding public office in Ekiti

Multi-Billion Naira Fraud: Ekiti bars Fayemi, other from holding public offices in state

A White Paper released by Ekiti State Government has barred a former governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, from holding a public office in the state for 10 years.

The state also barred his former Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Kolawole, for the same number of years.

The duo were barred based on the report of the Ekiti Judicial Commission of Inquiry, which indicted them over alleged mismanagement of the state’s finances between October 2010 and 2014.

Fayemi, now a Minister of Mines and Steel Development, was the governor during the stated period.

The report declared them “as unfit to hold any public office in the state.‎”
The Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by Ekiti State Government to look into the financial transactions of the state under the administration of Dr. Fayemi had said that the former governor must refund a sum of N2.75 billion allocated from the N25 billion bond obtained by the government for the execution of contract for the construction of Ultra-Modern market in Ado Ekiti, which was never executed.

The commission of inquiry also said that the contractor in respect of the furnishing of the government house built by the Fayemi’s administration should be made to refund a sum of N324.8 million, noting that the contract should not have been more than N280 million.

The panel said it found out that KITWOOD Nigeria Limited to which the furnishing contract of over N600 million was awarded had no traceable address and that “the address on the Letter of Award is a virgin land at opposite the new Central Bank along new Iyin Road, Ado Ekiti.

These and several other revelations were made known when the commission of inquiry submitted its report to the State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose. The panel was headed by Justice Silas Oyewole (rtd).

On the purchase of vehicles, the panel said “claim by Coscharis Motors that it supplied 235 and/or 250 vehicles was fraudulent and that fraught with so many contradictions.

“That Coscharis Motors supplied some vehicles outside Ekiti State especially, at Ibadan Liaison office when Ekiti State Government does not have a Liaison office in Ibadan. In respect of this, seven vehicles were supplied outside the State and signed for by unknown persons.

That Coscharis Motors only supplied 219 vehicles to the Ekiti State government and that 17 Joylong Buses were supplied to the Ekiti State Government as gift but later carted away.”

On the controversial N852.9 State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) fund, the commission said it was clear that the Government of Dr Fayemi hoodwinked the federal government into paying its own matching grant by obtaining N852, 936,783.12 loan from Access Bank on November 25, 2013 without perfecting documentation in respect of the loan, thereby flouting the provisions of Section 11(2) of the UBEC Act, 2004.

#EndSARS: Atiku commended Nigeria youths

Atiku Abubakar has commended Nigerians for rising in unison to condemn alleged atrocities by the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Mr. Abubakar, a former vice-president and 2019 presidential hopeful, said harassment of citizens by policemen has no place in a democratic society.

“The arbitrary harassment of young Nigerians by Police (who should be protecting them) has no place in a democratic society,” Mr. Abubakar said.

The politician said he understood the plights of citizens who have been victims of alleged SARS brutality, especially the youth who are more vulnerable to harassment because SARS personnel often see them as Internet fraudsters whenever they carry laptops in their bags on the road.

“The #EndSARS protest shows Nigerian youth are upset and the matter needs urgent attention,” he said. “Everyday, we encourage our young people to become entrepreneurs. Buying a laptop to earn a living shouldn’t attract harassment.”

Mr. Abubakar’s reaction came a day after Nigerians started trending the #EndSARS hashtag to draw attention to alleged criminalities of SARS officers.

“I commend our young people for protesting these injustices peacefully online, and encourage the IG of @PoliceNG to take these complaints seriously.

“I also urge the National Assembly to look into these complaints, and address the human rights issues. Reforms are urgently needed,” Mr. Abubakar said.

A petition was also opened online for Nigerians to sign to force the National Assembly and President Muhammadu Buhari to scrap SARS and amend the police.

PREMIUM TIMES reported the campaign and how a police watchdog group, NOPRIN, had asked for SARS to be scrapped since 2010 after chronicling several cases of abuses by the department.

Police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, initially asked PREMIUM TIMES to ignore the campaigners, saying he would call back to give reactions to the allegations against SARS later on Saturday evening.

However, PREMIUM TIMES attempts to get his full reaction between Saturday night and Sunday morning didn’t work out as he didn’t pick phone calls.

Similarly, Hyacinth Dagala and Umar Shehu, the Deputy Inspector-General and Assistant Inspector-General in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, did not answer PREMIUM TIMES phone calls and text messages seeking their comments Sunday morning.

Unbelievable! Toyo Baby of Jennifer's Diary confesses after she had lied she was a Virgin

Nigerian actress and Jenifa’s Diary star, Olayode Juliana popularly known as ‘Toyo Baby’ has revealed the reason behind her claim that she was a virgin. This is unbelievable.

The 22-year-old actress incurred the wrath of Nigerians when she claimed to have lost her virginity to her married teacher at 17.
The raunchy details were contained in her new tell-it-all memoir titled “Rebirth,” released on Thursday.

Unfortunately, the Internet never forgets. The actress, who shot into limelight after starring in Funke Akindele’s hit series, Jenifa’s Dairy, as ‘Toyo baby’ had granted several interviews wherein she claimed to be preserving her virginity until she marries.

Her teeming fans, who adored her stance on sexual purity, were shocked when she contradicted herself in her new book.
The Nollywood actress, however, explained why she lied. According to her, she was led to deny being a virgin when she was taken unawares during a live TV programme.

“People had assumed I was a virgin. I had never said I was but I had never corrected their assumptions either. So, I was still in that fix. Shortly after my confession, Ebony Life TV called me for an interview. I went and for the first time in my several interviews; I was asked point blank if I was a virgin. I tried to evade the question, but my interviewer was not having it.

“She demanded for a yes or no. I did not see the question coming and I lied. I said, “Yes, I am a virgin”. Immediately the interview was over, I hurried to the bathroom in the studio and cried. I felt terrible for lying and told God I was sorry.”

She said because she was ashamed to admit lying in various interviews, she decided to live the lie.

“I felt it was my secret and the whole world need not know about it. I was upset with myself, however, for answering her. I could have insisted I could not tell. So, I proposed never to answer such again. Easier said than done, right? Shortly after, I was on another TV interview, Crux Of The Matter, with Elsie.

“I was invited to talk for sexual purity while the other guest spoke against. In the process of the discussion, around the time when it was heated, I was asked out of the blues again if I was a virgin. And before I knew it, I heard myself lying again. I was mad at myself. I was on another TV interview that trended for a while. It was On The Couch, with Lady Ariyike. I talked about sexual purity, but thankfully I was not asked if I was virgin. After that one, I decided to stop interviews altogether. I was tired of lying or having to dread lying if I was asked straight up.”

Mixed reactions have trailed the release of the book. Critics say the actress is simply towing the path of media girl, Toke Makinwa, who also published a similar tell-it-all memoir, On Becoming, in 2016.

In the book, the actress also discusses her struggles, which include hawking on the street, experiencing sexual abuse, how a pastor once tried to abuse her sexuality and how she dropped out of school.

Be that as it may, when Vanguard looked for affirmation of the meeting from the National President of the union, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi the previous evening, he just welcomed their Correspondent to go to a press preparation at Labor House today.

However, data had it that Chairmen of state sections of the union met in Abuja, with the national administration where they ordered and investigated the consequences of the submission they led in their different parts.

The directors whom larger part of them had endorsed a nation wide country strike, thought close by the National Executive Council, NEC the term the strike would last.

You must have been wondering why the EFCC Twitter handler left EFCC. After EFCC disclosed their Twitter Handler, there were many reactions that followed.
EFCC Twitter handler
Some people said he was sacked while others said he must have had a bigger opportunity.

Nonetheless, EFCC posted the reason he left on their official Facebook page.

This was what they wrote:

EFCC Twitter Handler: Reason Why He Left
Olufemi Olukayode Adeyemi worked in the Public Affairs Directorate of the Commission since November 2014, where he exhibited his talent as a consummate professional.
Before moving on, he managed the twitter handle of the Commission; @officialEFCC amongst other assignments.
Adeyemi harboured personal dreams even before assuming duties at the Commission and he has now decided to fulfill those dreams.
Like a parent that finds joy in seeing a child grow, we are happy for Adeyemi because the Eagle must be allowed to soar.
And, like the Eagle that always maintains its nest, Adeyemi’s home remains the EFCC.
The world and Twitter have certainly not seen the last of "The Handler".

EKSU: Student Leader Arrested after Police vandalised students' hostels

Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, students Leader was arrested following an attack by the police in the school. EKSUSU Press reported the incidence as follows.

At about 3pm yesterday, there was an accident involving an okada man, who inflicted serious injury on a lady who is presently at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital. The highlight of the neglect or non-challant attitude of the okada man leaving the lady in that critical state made a concerned senator, Senator Hardvize to raise his voice against this inhuman treatment towards students.

This led to a fracas at satellite gate of the University as Okada men violently attacked the SUG president (known as Aruson), and a senator at EKSU student union level known as senator Hardvize.

Further on the scene, the deputy CSO of EKSU, forwarded a call to the SUG excos, to go settle things amicably in the Iworoko police station.

At the meeting, the DPO stressed the need for peace and unity among the okada riders and the student, much to the presence of Aruson led team and the excos of the okada riders.

While still at the meeting, the SUG EXCOS were called upon that the hooliganism of the okada men has taken a new dimension, as okada men inflicted wounds on different individuals at sporadic intervals.

This prompted the Aruson led team to leave the police station and call the paramilitary wing (cadet corps) of the University, to ensure the safety of Nigerian student.

On arrival at Osekita junction to observe and proffer solution to the ugly scene, the SUG excos received battering and sustained grievous injuries, much to the presence of the so-called gallant men of the police force. As they choose to be spectators, rather than a competitors for peace.

The number one citizen of the University, talking in person of student union president (Aruson) was seriously dealt with, together with his aides.

Later on, the police men who stood to watch, started firing tear gas on EKSUITEs, which caused some of the students to seek for safety through escape, causing students panics injuries, and health status of asthmatic patients in their various rooms was affected.

This fateful morning at exactly 5.00am when most of the students were sleeping peacefully in their room, they (students) were forced to wake up to deafening sounds of sirens blast of the Police force as the students later gathered this morning for a peaceful protest of "operation no okada." According to one of our sources, a vibrant comrade named "Megapinx" was attacked. He sustained a head injury, from a policeman who hit him with a gun on his head.

Few hours after, policemen launched teargas at will on students at various entry point into the University as students were arrested in their hostels which was meant to be their comfort zone; even when the gate was locked as police men jumped fences into hostel compounds of Friendlies hostel, F&F hostel among others to arrest students and harass them against their fundamental human right. CloudGossips was at the hostel scene and the picture below was taken at the F and F hostel.

The students hereby give a clarion and patriotic call to the State and Federal Government to come to the rescue of students of Ekiti State University as they are sons and daughters of this land, the future stakeholders of our nation to become a nation of pride in the 21st century.

Right now, as we report, the Students Leader and some others are still at the custody of the Police.

He had an opportunity to attack the kids after we isolated and he compellingly hushed up about them for 5months in year 2014 from July to November at Ado-Ekiti.
